Message For Everyone Having A Tough Time

I rescued this picture from up the loft today. I had thought about it lots since reading so many of your blogs where times are hard - with illness, finances, redundancies etc.

My Nan bought me this when we first got married and it hung in my kitchen for 13 years until we moved - it is so faded and steam damaged but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away.

My Nan died 8 years ago and I still miss her every day as she was a "rock" - I think that generation who had bought kids up during the war whilst husbands were missing all tend to be the same.

Anyway - back to the reason for posting it - its called Don't Quit and because its so faded I'll repeat it here.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are ow, but the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us, sometimes learns

And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won, had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never know how close you are
It may be near, though it seems so far

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

I hope you like it, feel free to use it - it doesn't give any copyright or an author - I've always planned to turn it into an embroidery or sampler of some sort.

Hope it helps get you all through.

That's a lovely picture, and the words are very true. I believe that there is always sunshine around the corner. Black clouds are never there permanently. Like the blog, & will add you to my favourites!

HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND!!

What lovely words, and so true!
My Nan died 12 years ago; I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t think about her, so I know what you mean.

Hello Sara
These are wise words indeed.
This year has started with a whimper again and put up new hurdles to cross but as my dear father used to say.."never give up".
As Sharon has said.. there is always something good around the corner ..it is just believing!

Hello Sara - that is so special - thankyou for sharing it hun, what a lovely gift from your nana...xx

With regard to "education otherwise" if you know what you are doing with the education then really its not much use...they do offer help and advice though, and give you websites to use...the other advantage is you can get a card to carry with you...when you are out and about in the day when the kids should be at school...you know just in case the police want to know why they aren't - that is a handy card to carry around...I guess theres no harm in joining you have nothing to loose!

Hope you are well Chick and the kids are well - Love Happy x

Yep, I usually go to the local library and look through the latest copy of Marie Claire Ideas and either take notes or if it's got lots of good stuff in go and buy it.
But I was chuffed yesterday because Country Living cost me €4,95 and that's about the same as the french mags.
